Character & values
Character Education
Values-based learning that grows integrity, empathy and responsibility.
Programme overview
Character Education places personal growth at the heart of youth leadership. It explores how integrity, empathy, responsibility and service influence the choices young people make at school, at home and in their communities. Rather than treating values as abstract ideas, the programme connects them with everyday relationships, difficult decisions and the courage to act with care for others. Dialogue, mentoring and practical reflection create a space to consider not only what a person wants to achieve, but also the kind of person and leader they want to become.
Inside the programme
Values in everyday life
Integrity begins with the small choices that build trust. Discussions can explore honesty, keeping commitments, respecting differences and taking responsibility when something goes wrong. By connecting these values with familiar situations in education, friendships and community life, character formation becomes a practical conversation about how to live with purpose and consideration for others.
Empathy & responsible leadership
Leadership is more than holding a position. It involves listening carefully, understanding how decisions affect others and putting shared wellbeing ahead of personal recognition. Mentoring and group dialogue encourage young people to reflect on their strengths, approach disagreement respectfully and consider how their example can create a more inclusive environment.
Reflection that leads to service
Learning becomes meaningful when it informs action. Personal reflection can help participants identify a habit to strengthen, a relationship to improve or a contribution they can make to their community. The aim is to connect self-awareness with sustained responsibility, so that values-based learning supports both personal development and the wider work of peacebuilding.
