Music & intercultural connection

Young Sound of Peace

Music and the arts as a shared language of reconciliation.

Programme overview

Young Sound of Peace connects the expressive power of music and the arts with a message of shared humanity. Creative expression can open conversations that are difficult to begin through words alone, making space for young people to share their experiences and listen across cultural differences. The programme’s purpose is to bring creativity into the wider work of empathy, reconciliation and community connection. Specific performances, creative activities and participation arrangements depend on the programme information announced by the organising office.

Inside the programme

01

Give peace a creative voice

Music, performance and artistic expression can communicate hope, belonging and the desire for a more peaceful community. Young artists can explore how their work reflects their experiences and the values they wish to share. The emphasis is on expression that respects others and invites audiences to connect with the human story behind a message.

02

Meet across cultures

Creative exchange offers a way to appreciate different traditions without reducing them to a single voice. Listening to one another’s work, discussing its meaning and exploring common themes can encourage curiosity and mutual respect. These connections support the programme’s peacebuilding purpose while leaving room for the distinct identities and experiences of each participant.

03

Connect expression with community

The value of creative work extends beyond the performance itself. It can inspire dialogue, strengthen relationships and connect young people with opportunities for service. Linking artistic expression with community engagement keeps the focus on shared understanding and constructive participation, rather than treating visibility or applause as the only measure of success.
