Peacebuilding & projects

Peace Designer

Equipping youth to design practical solutions for lasting peace.

Programme overview

Peace Designer connects the ambition to build peace with the discipline of designing a thoughtful response to a real community challenge. Young people are encouraged to look beyond the visible symptoms of disagreement, listen to different perspectives and consider the relationships that shape trust. The programme focuses on moving from understanding to a clear project idea, and from an idea to purposeful action. It is a space for youth-led problem-solving in which empathy, cooperation and practical planning matter as much as creativity.

Inside the programme

01

Listen & understand

A useful peace initiative starts with understanding the people it is intended to serve. Exploring local needs, listening to community perspectives and recognising different experiences can reveal where trust has weakened and where cooperation is possible. This approach encourages young people to avoid assumptions and to frame a challenge with care before proposing a solution.

02

Shape a practical initiative

Project design turns a broad concern into a focused response. Teams can consider the change they hope to support, the people they need to involve, the activities that fit the local context and the resources required. Mentoring and constructive feedback help connect an inspiring idea with a realistic plan, clear responsibilities and respect for the community.

03

Act, document & learn

Peacebuilding is a continuing process rather than a single event. Recording activities, gathering participant feedback and reflecting on challenges can help a team understand what its work contributed and what needs adjustment. Sharing those lessons supports more thoughtful future initiatives without overstating results or overlooking the voices of the people involved.
